Investing in Our Future, eSchoolView’s student scholarship program

Win one of ten $1,000 scholarships to use on any educational expense!

Why: eSchoolView's leadership and creative teams value education and the work school personnel does to prepare students for the future.  To help support students in that learning, the company is kicking off its first scholarship contest, Investing in Our Future. This scholarship program offers students an opportunity to use professional grade software in a relevant and meaningful way and they will be evaluated by professionals in the field. This is an invaluable experience we are offering to students to connect what they learn in the classroom with a real life application. We feel this will better prepare them to choose a career path that fits their interests.

Who: All seniors interested in pursuing Web design or development at the post-secondary level may participate in our scholarship program.

What: eSchoolView is offering two scholarship opportunities:  Web design and Web page development.

The Web Design Contest is designed for seniors interested in pursuing graphic design, Web design or other arts. This contest asks students to develop a home page and one interior page for the school’s Web site. The site should be related to a school class or club and should reflect a collaborative effort between the “client” and the designer. Designs should be created in Photoshop or other professional software and submitted as .psd, .jpeg, or .pdf files. The pages do not need to be functional, as they will be evaluated on design quality. A 300-500 word essay describing the process used to collaborate with their client and ensure their design met their client’s needs should accompany the design submissions.

Seniors in Web page or journalism courses can enter the Web Page Development Contest, where they will be developing an actual interior page written in an eSchoolView template.  The interior page should be dedicated to a club or class at the school, and should be the product of collaboration between the student and the “client,” or in this case, a club advisor or teacher.  Students need to create the page using eSchoolView’s CMS. A 300-500 word essay describing the process students used to collaborate with their client and ensure their product met their client’s needs should accompany the submission. Technical support will be available to the students throughout the project through Web-based tutorials, live customer support and a student version of eSchoolView’s user manual.

Each contest will be graded by a panel of professionals in Web design and development. Using a judging rubric provided by eSchoolView, the judges will select the top five entries in each category, and those students will be awarded $1,000 scholarships to use for any educational expense.  Their entries will also be showcased on eSchoolView’s Web site and used in future scholarship program materials.

When: Registration opens November 1, 2011 and final submissions are due April 20, 2012. Winners will be notified in May 2012.

Where: Students interested in participating must register online through our Web site. Additional information will be available about the contest, registration, and technical support manuals at that time.
