Michelle Vroom is a communication advocate who is passionate about cultivating long-lasting relationships
A seasoned public relations professional and former journalist, she has built a successful career on sharing information.
As eSchoolView’s Social Media Strategist, Michelle drives our social networks. She also develops and implements social media plans for our clients and provides on-going counsel and support to ensure efficacy.
“I want to help districts embrace social media and showcase its use as a powerful 21st Century outreach tool,” Michelle says. “Everyone has something to say and it is my job to make sure the story is told effectively."
Parents and community members are asking for information when they join a district’s network and then engage in conversation when they comment on posts, Michelle explains. Furthermore, they will spread the word by sharing their social activity with their peers and opinion leaders.
“Using social media can feel like a risk for some education leaders, but I will help develop a cost-effective approach that has measurable results,” she said. “ This is critical to accountability in publicly funded systems.”
Outside of her work with eSchoolView, Michelle heads her own firm Vroom Strategic Communications through which she develops and leads communication strategies for a range of clients in both the public and private sectors. She previously served Hilliard City Schools, the ninth-largest district in Ohio, as a coordinator of School-Community Relations, the City of Dublin as Public Affairs Officer and Newark City Schools. She has written for a number of newspapers.
Michelle holds a master’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and a bachelor of arts from Miami University. She and her husband, a middle school principal, live in Hilliard with their four children.
