December 2009 - Groveport Madison
Groveport Madison Local Schools proudly announces the launch of its new website. The website contains many new features to help keep stakeholders informed, such as the Superintendent’s video message on the home page. Visitors can also access the Superintendent’s Message on the performance data of the district, or browse information about specific curricula, district goals, and important resources at the district through the Curriculum and Instruction quick link.
The new website offers easy navigation. From the home page, visitors can use quick links to district level information, or choose to go directly to the Web pages of one of the six elementary schools, two middle schools, junior high school, or high school. Parents will also enjoy the extensive list of downloads they can use to access handbooks, forms, calendars, and other initiatives at the district.
“We want our new website to put the focus on each school. Our last site worked very well from a district perspective, but we now think parents want to know what is going in their student's school. We love the fact that we can add features to the site ourselves, and we think the teachers have much more flexibility to communicate about what is taking place in their classrooms. We look forward to the time when we can add the web 2.0 features of an RSS feed, podcasts and blogs to the pages. So far our staff, parents and board members have commented that they love the new look and can't wait to use all of the new features,” said Chris Bowser, Supervisor of Public Information for Groveport Madison Local Schools.
The home page also offers upcoming events, a comprehensive calendar, and recent news events so parents and community members can celebrate the many ways Groveport Madison Local Schools is achieving, working with community, and providing opportunities for its students.
“The district offers parents and community members current and relevant information they can access quickly and easily. The district hopes the site will provide the information parents need to make educated choices for their children and help them stay involved in their children’s education,” said Rob O’Leary, CEO of Infinite Cohesion and creator of eSchoolView, the content management system Groveport Madison Local School’s site uses.
The district knows this investment in communication will be a positive force in forging and maintaining relationships between the district and the community it serves. The website can be found at www.gocruisers.org.
